Sandwich Buns

Ingredients

  • 420g Unbleached AP flour

  • 220g lukewarm water

  • 4 Tbsp butter

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1.25 tsp salt

  • 1 Tbsp instant yeast

Make

  1. Mix and knead all ingredients, except 2 Tbsp butter, by hand or in a mixer
  2. Cover and let rise until doubled (1-2 hours)
  3. Divide and shape into 8 balls, then flatten each do make 3 inch diameter disks
  4. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise until puffy (~1 hour)
  5. Brush buns with 1 Tbsp melted butter and bake for 15-18 minutes at 375F
  6. Brush with remaining 1 Tbsp melted butter, then cool on a wire rack

  • Store, well-wrapped, at room temperature for several days. Can also freeze for longer storage

  • Maybe try without the sugar next time
